praises for bush
Perhaps I was wrong. Either Americans are very lazy and apathetic with very short memories, or George W. Bush is the greatest President in the history of the United States! Perhaps that is indeed the case. Despite his “minor” mistakes while in the Oval Office…i.e. war crimes, crimes against humanity and a host of foreign & domestic policy failures, George W. Bush remains free appearing often in public venues while thumbing his nose at America.
Perhaps my book, “Blood on Their Hands: How Callous Conservatives Capitalize on Clueless Constituents” was a mistake. Perhaps I was unfair to judge George W. Bush & Company so harshly. Just because he ruined people’s lives, cost people their lives, broke the law and disregarded the Constitution…well…things happen I guess! Maybe people like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity & Ann Coulter are right after after all.
Bush may have had a few mishaps & didn’t secure Osama bin Laden, but Barack Obama is evil, misguided and should be impeached & imprisoned! We need GOP leadership in our lives to promote deregulation, put forth tax breakes for the wealthy, and put the squeeze on the middle class. When I wrote, “Blood on Their Hands,” what was I thinking? Forgive me people of America. George W. Bush must be the greatest president we ever had!
“Bush was missing from National Guard duty for a period of one year, May 1972 through April 1973. In other words, George W. Bush was absent without leave…He had already accomplished his objective: avoid Vietnam…Professor Tsurumi, ‘He admitted to me that to avoid the Vietnam draft, he had his dad’s friends skip him through the long waiting list to get him into the Texas National Guard. He thought that was the smart thing to do. He was all for other people, Americans, to keep on fighting and dying.’“ –Excerpt from Chapter One, pp 10-11 of Blood on Their Hands by Forrest P. Redd.
discharge bigots, not gays
Those who are opposed to allowing gays serve openly in the military will cite a variety of reasons; problems will incur with housing, gay troops will be subjected to blackmail, straight troops will feel uncomfortable, unit morale will decline, gays are not trustworthy, the gay lifestyle is immoral and according to Navy Chaplain Gordon Klingenschmitt, “Our nation faces a National Security Disaster.” The only disaster our nation is actually facing is having homophobic bigots within our ranks. In an article by Chuck Colson, a chaplain states, “Because we honor justice and the common good, we will not…bend to any rule purporting to force us to bless immoral sexual partnerships…”
OK, allow me to brieflybreak down these so-called reasons to ban gays from the military. Housing: Contrary to popular homophobic belief, gay troops are in the military because they want to be of service to their country, not so they can flirt with or rape their fellow soldiers in the shower. And just on a quick sidebar, if a soldier doesn’t have the backbone to withstand an unwanted sexual advance, then he or she probably doesn’t belong in the military in the first place. Blackmail: If gays were not fearful of losing their jobs because of their sexual orientation, there’s no ammunition to blackmail them with. Straights will feel uncomfortable: I refer back to the housing issue. Unit morale will decline: There are no studies proving that any unit’s morale and cohesiveness suffer. Gays are not trustworthy: And I guess the troops who go overseas and cheat on their wives and husbands are. Gay lifestyle is immoral: My question is this; what’s immoral about one possessing a sexual orientation which God created them with? And no, if you study the Bible carefully, you will not find any verses opposing homosexuality (See Blood on Their Hands, Chapter 12).
Here are just a couple of examples of gay soldiers who are immoral, not trustworthy and pose a national security threat: Colonel Margarethe Cammermeyer; She served her country with distinction and valor as an army nurse during peace time and a combat nurse in Vietnam. She was the recepient of numerous awards including the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. Lieutenant Colonel Victor Fehrenbach; United States Air Force F-15 fighter pilot. Also serving with distinction and valor, LTC Fehrenbach was the recepient of 9 air medals including one for heroism during combat operations in Iraq.
What is immoral is excluding gays from serving their country. As an army reservist with combat experience, I have the credibility to back these words. We must repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” now. A proponent of the gay community was the late statesman U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater. He put it succinctly, “You don’t have to be straight to shoot straight.” How correct he was. The army values include, Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. They don’t include the words, bigotry and hateful.
Their Eyes Are Open
George W. Bush is out jogging one morning and notices a little boy on the corner with a box. Curious, he runs over to the child and says, “What’s in the box, kid?” – The little boy says, “Kittens! They’re brand-new kittens.” – Bush laughs and says, “What kind of kittens are they?” – The child responds, “Republicans.” – “Oh, that’s cute,” W. says, and he runs off. – A couple of days later, George is running with his buddy Dick Cheney and spies the same boy with his box just ahead. W says to Dick, “You gotta check this out,” and they both jog over to the boy with the box. – “Look in the box, Dick, isn’t that cute? Look at those little kittens. Hey kid, tell my friend Dick what kind of kittens they are.” – The boy replies, “They’re Democrats.” – “Whoa!” W. says, “I came by here the other day and you said they were Republicans. What’s up?” – “Well,” the kid says, “their eyes are open now.”
